Klaman Africa Vibe Festival: A Night to Remember



On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Klaman African Vibe Festival lit up UC San Diego Park & Market with a vibrant celebration of culture, art, and community. The event was part of the WORLD DESIGN EXPERIENCE powered by SAN DIEGO DESIGN WEEK during the WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL SAN DIEGO TIJUANA 2024.

The Evening was hosted by our founder Johanne, and our partner Master of Ceremony Mr Jordan Harrison. Guests from all walks of life, including Mayor Racquel Vasquez of Lemon Grove and the World Design Capital team, filled the venue, representing San Diego's melting pot of diversity.Visions Museum of Textile Art and Katrina Bruins added their expertise, while Stephen Groce from BRAGABILIA made an impact with his innovative beverages.




Fashion enthusiasts were treated to an outstanding runway show by Lizz Russell and Fashion Week San Diego, preceded by the screening of Klaman&Co’s powerful video titled “Textile Art, from Africa to the World,” which highlighted the strategic role African textiles play globally. The film emphasized the shared responsibility to uphold ethics, sustainability, and innovation within the textile industry.




Guests enjoyed an exclusive showcase of the Klaman Collection and Paul Adjei’s Art, alongside a culinary journey featuring authentic African cuisine from Flavor of East Africa. The evening reached its climax with an unforgettable concert by Gene Perry & Gil Tower, whose Afro-Jazz and Rumba rhythms had everyone dancing.




A special highlight of the evening was the official recognition of Johanne, Klaman&Co's founder, by the City of Lemon Grove for her unwavering commitment to building bridges through cultural inclusivity and community empowerment.
