Culture Is the Bridge: What the World Cup Teaches Us About Connection

Right now, billions of people around the world are watching the same games, cheering the same moments, and feeling the same emotions — regardless of where they're from.

That's the power of shared culture. And that's exactly the space Klaman & Co operates in.

On June 21, our Founder & CEO, Johanne G., joined KUSI News for a conversation about what the World Cup reveals about culture, connection, and community.

Klaman & Co is a California-based nonprofit building cultural bridges between Africa and the United States through cultural experiences, dialogue, and storytelling.

In a world that often feels divided, culture gives us common ground — and when people understand each other's stories and values, it changes how they collaborate, build, and show up for one another.

The World Cup reflects exactly what we believe in. Soccer is a shared passion — people with no common country, tongue, or background are suddenly united by one match, one moment, one emotion.

As Johanne put it during the KUSI conversation: "Sport is a language. Sport is a culture."

In other words, the same emotion that unites strangers over a match is the emotion we're trying to create around African heritage — a feeling of belonging that needs no translation.

Klaman & Co Where culture connects, community grows.
